8th STS ITALIA CONFERENCE
vulnerability, responsibility and justice
JUNE 17-19, 2021 : VIII STS Italia Conference : University of Trieste
Over the past months we have been waiting for the pandemic situation to improve and allow us to plan an on-site event. Unfortunately, the conditions are too uncertain to make such a decision and, therefore, STS Italia members, the STS Italia Board together with the organizing team have decided to hold the VIII STS Italia Conference online.
We are working to design and implement a conference format that can foster interaction and active participation: an ad hoc conference platform is being created. We will communicate the full details about the platform by the late registration deadline of April 16, 2021.
Registration will start on 25 January,2021
The conference is organized by the Italian Society of Science and Technology Studies, in collaboration with the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Trieste.
The major theme refers to the complex and ambivalent role of technoscience and innovation in constituting societies – making possibilities flourish, but also creating new vulnerabilities. The conference will welcome empirical and theoretical contributions addressing diverse aspects of the social study of science, technology and innovation from different disciplines and fields, such as anthropology, economics, design, history, law, philosophy, political science, psychology, semiotics and sociology.
